Building a registry has always had one tedious step: getting the gifts onto it. You find the perfect pram or the exact dinner set you want, then you copy the link, switch tabs, paste it in, and go back to shopping. Do that thirty times and an afternoon disappears.
That step is now gone. The Add to EasyRegistry Button is live on the Chrome Web Store, and it saves gifts from any online store straight to your registry while you shop. No copy-pasting links, no juggling tabs.
What it actually does
Browse any retailer's site the way you normally would. When you spot something you want, click the EasyRegistry button in your toolbar. A small card opens right on the page with the product's photo, price and details already filled in. Pick which registry it goes on, add a note for gift-givers if you like, and click Add to registry. The gift lands on your list and you're back to shopping in seconds.
A few details we sweated over:
- It works on any store. There's no approved-retailer list. Big department stores, a tiny independent maker, a specialist pram shop, if you can browse it, you can add it.
- You stay in control before saving. Adjust the quantity, price or title, choose a category, mark something as Most wanted, or keep a gift private so only you can see it.
- It only runs when you click it. The extension stays idle until you press the button. It doesn't read or track your browsing in the background.
- It's free. So is creating and sharing your registry.
Why we built it
The whole point of a hybrid registry is that guests can buy a real gift, contribute to a cash fund, or chip in on a group gift, all from one list. Our comparison of Australian registry options goes into why that flexibility matters, but it only works if the list itself is easy to build. Couples told us the copy-paste shuffle was the most annoying part of setting up, especially when the things they wanted came from six different shops.
That feedback shaped the design. The button does the tedious part (finding the photo, the price, the product details) and leaves you the decisions that matter, like whether the KitchenAid goes on as a group gift.

- Install the Add to EasyRegistry Button from the Chrome Web Store. It takes a couple of clicks.
- Pin it to your toolbar so it's there when you need it.
- Sign in once with your EasyRegistry account, then shop anywhere and start adding.

The button works in Google Chrome on desktop for now. On your phone or in another browser, you can still add gifts by pasting a product link on your registry page, and we're looking at other browsers based on how the beta goes.
